The thing about spice blends is that they’re infinitely variable. This one is focused on the core 3 - Za’atar leaves (sometimes called Lebanese or Syrian Oregano but technically a mint), Sesame seeds, and sumac. This holy trinity gives herbal, earthy, and tangy fresh, all in one pinch. I love it for that last finishing sprinkle on eggs, hummus, roasted veggies, pasta, or the oil you dip your bread in.
About NY Shuk
Co-founded by Brooklyn-based couple Ron and Leetal Arazi, NY Shuk is an amalgamation of their Eastern Mediterranean heritages. Ron, a chef from a Jewish Moroccan-Lebanese family, and Leetal, a visual and culinary artist with Turkish and Eastern European heritage, are preserving family recipes and traditional foodways, while expanding the way these flavors can be used in our kitchens.
